Dandenong 2019 Tour

The Eltham-Dandenong Basketball Tournament is one of the largest junior basketball tournaments in the world. The tournament is held across over 30 venues in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria.

PURPOSE

 

The purpose of the Dandenong trip is primarily for development and team cohesion both on and off the court in the following areas:

 

1. Basketball Skills – this is an opportunity to play against some of the best players in the country. Basketball games played at this level will enhance both individual & team based skills.

2. Club Culture – we want to engage in this tournament as a club. This is an opportunity for the players to experience basketball outside of Perth with other players in the club. We believe these kinds of experiences have the prospect of creating positive lifelong memories.

 

Depending on the number of players & coaches, there may be 2 teams in any given age division (U14, U16, U18, U20) with up to 8 players per team.

 

Under 14 - those born 2006 and younger
Under 16 - those born 2004 and younger
Under 18 - those born 2002 and younger

 

Parents are able to join us and can book flights and accommodation with the team online subject to availability. We can confirm availability once registrations close. All parents are responsible for cost of food and transport while in Melbourne. There are some extra flights and accommodation that will be offered once player registrations close. It is State Law that on an overnight event with minors all adults must have a current WWCC. This includes any parents staying in the same units as the Teams.

 

TRYOUTS/TEAM SELECTION

No tryouts will be held, however the use of State Champs as a grading scale will determine the teams.

 

The number of players who confirm their involvement will determine how many teams we will put into the program.

 

TRAINING

Training for the tour will begin in October and run through to the Dandenong Tournament in January. The Dandenong Development Tour training will be at Warwick Stadium starting October.

 

FEES AND FUNDRAISING

 

To secure your place on the tour a non-refundable $100 registration fee must be paid upon registration. This will form part of your deposit of $300 which needs to be paid before 12 pm on 24th November 2018. The full cost of the trip will be $1500. Those who register and pay deposit prior to 30th September will be eligible to enter a prize draw (Senators cap and backpack and 3 x Personal Training sessions with Corban Wroe for you and a friend at Warwick Workout).

 

Full fees are due by 10th December 2018. Fees include a return trip flight, 4-nights accommodation, transportation in Victoria (minibus and fuel), breakfast each morning, team registration & door entry fees, team trainings (running weekly from October to January) and tour shirt.

 

You can make payments as you go through the year via the online registration system. Your confirmation email will contain your account number which you can use at a later date to make further payments. As long as your deposit of $300 is paid by 12 pm, 24th November 2018 you can pay your account off as and when you are able as long as any outstanding balance is cleared by 10th December 2018.

 

We encourage all teams to start fundraising as early as possible in the year to help reduce the costs. You can make use of Warwick Stadium's function room for fundraising events.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY

We advise you to take out personal travel insurance to mitigate the risk of unforeseen circumstances. In the event that you need to cancel your participation in the Dandenong Development Tour please confirm this in an email to erik.olsen@warwickstadium.com.au. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable. The amount refundable is shown below, taken from the time/date we receive written confirmation of the cancellation:

 

Before 12 pm 24th November - 100% of total fees refunded minus non-refundable registration fee ($100)*


After 12 pm 24th November - refund possible (minus non-refundable deposit of $300) only if you are able to present us with a doctors certificate or a replacement is found before 3rd January 2019**

 

A full refund will be given in the unlikely event of the Dandenong Development Tour being cancelled. Stirling Senators Basketball Club reserve the right to change/cancel any programme elements in the unlikely event of unforeseen circumstances.

**If at any stage a player is unable to attend for medical reasons (regardless of the timing of cancellation), on presentation of a doctor certificate a full refund of all monies paid minus the $300 non-refundable deposit will be given. If a player is not able to attend because of medical reasons a replacement player may be found.
