  • Carmie Olowoyo Jersey Retirement

    July 30, 2018

This past Saturday night was not only the Senators’ final SBL home match against the Perry Lakes Hawks, but it was a special night where we recognised one of the club’s all time players, Carmie Olowoyo.  It was on this night that where #42 was hung to the rafters at Warwick Stadium & we got to recognise some of the great achievements of Carmie.

Carmie’s impact in the club saw him play over 260 games in a Senators uniform while putting on the red and black for the Perth Wildcats, appearing in over 70 games.  Carmie’s career in the SBL started in 1995 & finished with the club in 2010 - having a break for a few years while playing at college in the United States.

In Olowoyo’s time with the Stirling Senators Basketball club, he finished as one of the all time leaders in points scored, rebounds & games played, with a career average of 21 points & 6 boards & 2 assists per game.

As a club, we are committed to the impact players have off the court & Carmie has been and continues to use his knowledge & energy in the areas of coaching (both professionally as well as within the sport of basketball) to make a difference in the lives of others.  Carmie‘s story of hard work and dedication is one which encourages young people in the sport & in life, that if you put your heart into something you can achieve anything.

With over 800 people in attendance on Saturday night, it was a night to remember.
